Abstract

With Perfide storie di famiglia Grimaldi appears to have succeeded in realising her stated undertaking which is to write narrative fiction that "delves deep inside individual consciences, shakes them and strikes the deepest chords." Besides showing the author's interest and expansion of the thematic and stylistic features of a genre which is relatively new to Italian authors, the trilogy shows the acuity of her gaze which is able to capture the anomalies, deformities and injustices of contemporary Italian society, producing three compelling and paradigmatic "esemplari di quotidiana infelicità."
