The role of memory in Piccoli equivoci senza importanza

Abstract

The theme of memory is considered with reference to Tabucchi's 1985 collection of short stories Piccoli equivoci senza importanza. It is of course a theme which is relevant throughout Tabucchi's work. He himself has talked about it in an interview on the subject of his recently published Requiem. To the question "Ma è pericoloso parlare con i fantasmi?", Tabucchi replied: "Secondo me bisogna avere un colloquio con i morti perché questo significa avere un colloquio colla propria memoria."
