Abstract

There is no distinction in principle between travelling and living except the consciousness of experiential reading. The journey has always been a metaphor for life and Svevo's Corto viaggio sentimentale takes this for granted The geopolitics of the psyche and the geopolitics of family romance are important in explaining Svevo's relationship to the countries he came to know and to his interpretation of the concept of freedom.
